Unlike an artistic director, who is responsible for the creative identity of a theater company, the executive director’s job is to make sure the organization is stable — from marketing and operations to finance and community support. Down-to-earth and quick to laugh, Bielstein recently made time to chat about her love of the arts and the business of theater over a lunch of chopped salads and french fries. The interview has been edited for length and clarity. Q: When did your love of the arts begin?.
