Last month, police responded to three shootings in three days in the Sycamore Drive neighborhood, a densely populated area of Antioch that has accounted for a large percentage of the city’s violent crime. The robbery occurred around 11 p.m. at the store in the 300 block of N. Civic Drive, police said. A man with a white T-shirt or towel over his face and armed with a hatchet took money from the register and then fled in a newer, four-door vehicle, police said. The suspect was described by police as a white man in his mid- to late 20s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans, police said.
